There will be a short outage when the repaired
GPSDO is returned. The beacon is currently operating on a borrowed unit. I will
notify the date and likely time when the work is to take
If at any time the beacons appears to be off the air (provided that I have
either observed or been notified of the situation), then I will endevour to
give you up to date information on this webpage as soon as practically
possible. If you find either beacon off the air or not operating according to
spec, then please do send me an e-mail letting me know, as I may be unaware of
the outage or problem. My e-mail address can be found on the 'Contact the
beacon keeper' page.
Unfortunately, I am not notified in advance of any electricity company
scheduled power outages and therefore both of the beacons may be subject to
these disruptions from time to time.
The site sharers hut is not supplied with electricity from the BT radio
station but independantly via overhead lines, so no back up generator supply is
available. This also means that the electricity supply is more vulnerable to
lightning surges and other storm damage etc. A UPS has now been installed to
deal with any short term power cuts and 'brown outs'.
